| Reverse description | The reverse displays the large senatorial mark S·C (Senatus Consultum) in bold, deeply struck letters occupying the central field, asserting the authority of the Roman Senate over bronze coinage. Encircling the S·C, a continuous legend names the moneyer responsible for the issue, reading clockwise around the periphery of the coin. The legend is set close to the rim with no additional decorative border. The design is characteristic of the Augustan monetary reform coinage, with the moneyer's name and titles providing the sole decorative and epigraphic content surrounding the central mark of value. |
