Reverse description The large senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) dominates the central field, flanked and encircled by the moneyer's legend in Roman capitals arranged around the periphery. The letters S and C are rendered in bold relief, signifying that this bronze issue was struck under the authority of the Roman Senate. The surrounding inscription names the tresviri monetales responsible for the issue, following the standard reverse typology of Augustan aes coinage. The overall composition is purely epigraphic, with no figurative imagery, reflecting the administrative and monetary reform programme instituted by Augustus.
