| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered with his characteristic full beard and curly hair in the Hellenic style he favored, the portrait displaying the naturalistic sculptural quality typical of Hadrianic coinage. The effigy occupies the majority of the flan, with the emperor's strong facial features — including a prominent nose and defined brow — executed with considerable relief. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery of the field, bordered by a beaded rim. The portrait conveys imperial authority combined with the philhellenic aesthetic that distinguished Hadrian's reign. |
