| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in the characteristic mature portrait style of his later reign. The laurel wreath, emblem of imperial and military authority, is rendered with fine detail around the brow. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the coin's periphery. The flan shows heavy green patination with surface encrustation consistent with extended burial, partially obscuring the fine die work of the portrait. |
