She holds a coin-counting abacus or tessera in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, symbolising imperial generosity and abundance. The letters S and C (Senatus Consultum) are placed prominently in the left and right fields respectively, authorising the issue on behalf of the Senate. The reverse legend encircles the design along the rim, commemorating the sixth congiarium or cash distribution to the Roman populace. |
