Reverse description The personification of Justitia (Justice) is depicted seated left upon an ornate throne or chair, rendered in calm, classical drapery. She extends her right hand forward holding a patera, while her left hand rests upon a long vertical sceptre rising alongside her figure. The composition is dignified and static, in keeping with the allegorical reverse types favoured during Hadrian's reign. The legend encircles the field, and the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears prominently in the lower exergue area.
Reverse script Latin
Reverse lettering IVSTITIA AVG COS III P P S C
(Translation: Iustitia Augusti, Consul Tertium, Pater Patriae. Senatus Consultum. Justice of the emperor (Augustus), consul for the third time, father of the nation, Decree of the senate.)
