Reverse description The goddess Indulgentia is depicted seated left on a throne, draped in long robes, extending her right hand forward in a gesture of clemency and holding a sceptre in her left hand. The large senatorial control marks S and C (Senatus Consultum) are prominently placed in the field to either side of the seated figure, confirming this coin's authorisation by the Senate. The surrounding legend INDVLGENTIA AVG COS III P P is distributed around the periphery within a dotted border. The composition reflects Hadrian's celebrated policy of fiscal leniency, including the remission of tax debts to the Roman populace.
