| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic short beard and curled hair. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the left shoulder, with drapery folds rendered in the refined Antonine sculptural style. The obverse legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the hallmark Hadrianic physiognomy — strong jaw, deeply set eyes, and the full beard that distinguished his coinage from his predecessors. |
