| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, the emperor portrayed with his characteristic short curly hair and full beard. The paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder, with folds of drapery visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in a naturalistic, finely modelled style typical of Hadrianic portraiture. The circular legend HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS runs along the outer edge within a beaded border. |
