Reverse description A Roman galley under full sail depicted in left profile, its billowing sail filling the central field and conveying a sense of maritime movement and imperial felicity. The hull of the vessel is rendered with details of oars or rowing benches, and a figurehead is sometimes present at the prow. The legend FELICITATI AVG is occasionally inscribed on the sail itself, while the fuller titulature occupies the surrounding field and exergue. The S C (Senatus Consultum) mark, denoting senatorial authority over bronze coinage, appears prominently in the field.
