| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with the emperor's characteristic short, curly hair and full beard — a hallmark of Hadrianic portraiture that broke with earlier clean-shaven imperial convention. The effigy is modelled in high relief with considerable sculptural detail in the treatment of the hair and facial features. A circular legend in Latin surrounds the portrait, reading HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS. The field is plain, and the coin is bordered by a fine dentilated rim. |

| Reverse description | A galley (navis) rendered in profile sailing to the right across stylised waves, with multiple oars depicted along the hull and a figure — likely a helmsman or deity — visible at the stern handling the steering oar; a second standing figure appears near the prow. The composition celebrates the felicitas (good fortune and prosperity) of imperial maritime power, likely alluding to Hadrian's extensive travels by sea. The legend FELICITATI AVG is inscribed across the upper field in two lines, with COS III PP below the ship and S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the hull at left and right, authorising the bronze issue. A dentilated border frames the entire reverse field. |
