Hadrian's CLEMENTIA types belong to a concentrated propaganda push tied to his second extended tour of the provinces, during which he made a point of reminding both senate and populace that his rule was defined by restraint rather than force. The RIC II.3 revision, published in 2019 under the editorship of Mairat, Abdy, and others, substantially reorganized and renumbered Hadrian's bronze coinage — this piece's citation as #1265 reflects that updated corpus rather than the older Mattingly-Sydenham numbering, which creates persistent cross-reference confusion in dealer inventories.
