| Obverse description | Radiate bust of Nero facing right, draped at the shoulder, depicted with his characteristic youthful physiognomy and elaborately curled hair surmounted by a radiate crown, the latter serving as the standard iconographic indicator of the dupondius denomination. The effigy is rendered in high relief with considerable sculptural detail. The circular Latin legend reads NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GER P M TR P IMP P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan, framed by an outer border of dots. |
