Obverse description Radiate bust of Nero facing right, draped at the shoulder, with characteristic full curly hair rendered in the Julio-Claudian portrait style. The effigy is boldly modelled with a strong jaw and fleshy features typical of later Neronian portraiture. A circular legend surrounds the bust, reading from the lower left and continuing around the upper periphery of the field. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan and is rendered in high relief consistent with hammered bronze coinage of the early Imperial period.
