Reverse description The large senatorial mark of value S C (Senatus Consulto — by decree of the Senate) dominates the center of the field in bold, deeply incised Roman capitals. Surrounding the S C, a circular legend reading M SANQVINIVS Q F IIIVIR A A A F F is arranged within a raised inner border, identifying the moneyer Marcus Sanquinius, son of Quintus, in his capacity as Triumvir Monetalis. The entire design is enclosed within a plain outer raised rim. The composition is austere and epigraphic, with no figurative imagery, consistent with the administrative bronze coinage of the Augustan reform.
