| Obverse description | Radiate bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in the draped and cuirassed style typical of early Hadrianic coinage. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, identifies the denomination as a dupondius. The emperor's portrait displays the characteristic short beard and classically idealized features associated with Hadrianic portraiture. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer rim of the obverse field. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic broad, flat fabric of hammered Roman aes coinage. |
