The legend PAX AVGVSTA arcs across the upper field, proclaiming Augustan Peace as a programmatic virtue of Galba's reign. The large senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consulto) flanks the central figure in the lower field to left and right. The reverse exhibits the characteristically broad, flat flan of the dupondius denomination struck at the Rome Mint under senatorial authority. |
