The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consulto) appears in the field to either side of the figure at mid-height. The legend PAX AVGVSTA is inscribed around the periphery of the flan. The reverse composition is characteristic of the Augustan peace iconography revived under Galba's short reign as a statement of legitimacy and political stability. |
