Reverse description The reverse displays the large senatorial monogram S·C (Senatus Consultum) in high relief at the centre of the field, the letters boldly rendered and dominating the design. Surrounding the central monogram, the moneyer's legend is arranged in a circular inscription reading CN PISO CN F IIIVIR A A A F F, distributed around the periphery of the coin. The legend identifies the issuing magistrate as Gnaeus Calpurnius Piso, son of Gnaeus, serving as one of the tresviri monetales responsible for the striking of gold, silver, and bronze coinage by authority of the Senate. The flan is round and moderately even, with the reverse design well-centred relative to the broad, flat field.
