Obverse description Three-line legend inscribed within a wreath occupies the entire obverse field, with no portrait or effigy depicted. The legend reads AVGVSTVS / TRIBVNIC / POTEST in incuse Latin capitals, recording Augustus's tribunician power. The wreath, composed of laurel branches tied at the base, frames the inscription symmetrically and fills the coin's flan. This anepionic obverse type, unusual for the Augustan series, emphasizes the emperor's constitutional title rather than his likeness. The overall style is characteristic of the Roman mint's early Imperial coinage under the monetary reform of 23 BC.
