Obverse description Inscription in three lines within a corona civica (oak wreath), which fills the entire field. The legend reads AVGVSTVS TRIBVNIC POTEST, rendered in Latin capitals. The oak wreath, a prestigious civic honor awarded to Augustus by the Roman Senate, forms a decorative border around the inscription. The overall composition is typologically distinctive, substituting the customary imperial portrait with an epigraphic device, reflecting early Augustan coinage conventions. The surface bears characteristic patination consistent with a hammered bronze issue of the late 1st century BC.
