Obverse description Radiate head of the deified Augustus facing left, depicted with a serene and idealized posthumous portrait, the hair rendered in fine layered strands beneath the radiate crown. The bust is bare or lightly draped at the truncation. The encircling Latin legend reads DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border. The portrait is executed in high relief in the confident Julio-Claudian style, conveying imperial divinity and authority.
