| Obverse description | Radiate head of Divus Augustus facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed facial features characteristic of Julio-Claudian portraiture. The effigy is bare-headed save for the radiate crown, distinguishing the deified emperor from living rulers depicted with laurel wreaths. The circular legend DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER runs around the periphery in incuse Latin capitals. The field behind the portrait shows the characteristic green patina of a circulated bronze issue. This is a posthumous restitutor coinage struck under Titus, consciously evoking the original Augustan dupondius type. |
