| Obverse description | The obverse bears a three-line legend inscribed within an oak wreath (corona civica), the traditional civic crown awarded for saving the life of a Roman citizen. The wreath encloses the imperial titulature of Augustus, rendered in incuse Latin capitals. No portrait or effigy is depicted; the design is entirely epigraphic in character, a distinctive feature of certain Augustan aes coinage issued by the tresviri monetales. The wreath border frames the field on all sides. |
