| Obverse description | Bare or laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Gades mint. The portrait, though heavily worn and encrusted with green patina on this example, displays the characteristic facial features of the emperor as depicted on Hispanian provincial issues. The field is largely plain, and the surrounding legend, where present on better-preserved specimens, would carry the emperor's titulature. |
