The shield is flanked on either side by a laurel branch forming a wreath, all elements rendered in high relief against a plain field. The circular legend RESPUBLICA BERNENSIS runs along the periphery, interrupted at the base by the wreath, with the text reading from left to right around the upper and lateral margins. |
