Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Jan II Kazimierz Waza facing right, wearing an elaborate crown and lace collar, his hair falling in curls over the armored shoulders. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the baroque style typical of mid-17th-century Polish royal coinage. The effigy is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding Latin legend reads IOAN˙ CASI∙D:G∙REX∙POL∙&∙SVE∙M∙D∙L∙R∙P∙, identifying the king as John Casimir, by the grace of God King of Poland and Sweden, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Russia, and Prussia.
