Reverse description The arms of the City of Gdańsk displayed centrally on a shaped shield, divided into two quarters: the upper field bearing a crown, the lower field charged with two crosses pattée one above the other. The shield is supported on either side by two rampant lions holding chains, with a smaller lion passant positioned at the base. Above the shield, two crossed sceptres are surmounted by a floral ornament. Mintmaster's initials D·L appear in the lower field flanking the base of the shield. The circular Latin legend MON·AUREA CIVITAT·GEDANENSIS with the date 1676 runs around the periphery, separated by the toothed border.
