| Reverse description | Central device consists of the quartered arms of Gelderland — a shield divided per pale, each half bearing a crowned rampant lion — surmounted by a large floral crown with ornamental mantling or supporters on either side rendered as stylised acanthus-like drapery. The circular Latin motto legend 'IN DEO SP . NOS' (abbreviating 'In Deo Spes Nostra', 'In God is our hope') runs along the upper periphery of the field. The whole composition is contained within a raised bead border matching that of the obverse. |
