Reverse description The reverse displays the crowned arms of Gelderland at centre, consisting of a quartered shield bearing two rampant lions facing one another, surmounted by an ornate open crown with floriated points. The provincial motto legend IN DEO. EST. SPES NOSTRA encircles the shield, reading from the lower left around the top and continuing to the lower right, separated by stops. A beaded border frames the entire design along the rim. The heraldic shield and crown are rendered in crisp relief, typical of the milled copper coinage produced at the Harderwijk mint during the mid-eighteenth century.
