Reverse description The reverse displays a large quartered heraldic shield occupying the majority of the field, surmounted by a provincial crown with visible cross and floral elements. The four quarters of the shield bear the arms of Groningen and the Ommelanden, rendered in relief with hatching lines indicating the tinctures. The shield is flanked on either side by decorative foliate or scroll-work supporters. A beaded border frames the entire reverse design, consistent with the hammered technique employed throughout the issue.
