Obverse description An armored knight, depicted in full equestrian effigy, brandishes a raised sword in his right hand while mounted on a charging horse advancing to the right. Beneath the horse appear the crowned arms of Holland, serving as a heraldic ground. The entire composition is rendered in high relief consistent with a piedfort striking. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery of the square klippe flan, identifying the coin as a new silver issue of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, Province of Holland.
