Obverse description A fully armoured knight on horseback is depicted in right profile, brandishing an unsheathed sword aloft in his right hand. Beneath the horse, the uncrowned provincial arms of West Friesland appear in the field. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend running along the outer circumference. The composition follows the established Dutch 'Silver Rider' (Rijderschelling) type, rendered in the bold, slightly irregular style characteristic of hammered provincial coinage of the mid-seventeenth century.
