Obverse description Draped bust of Jean Louis d'Elderen facing right, wearing a clerical skullcap and ecclesiastical vestments with a richly detailed mozzetta. The effigy is rendered in high relief with finely engraved curling hair. The circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, interrupted by the date 1689 positioned in the lower exergue. A toothed inner border frames the field.

Reverse description Quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège and the Duchy of Bouillon, surmounted by a princely crown. The shield is supported on either side by a rampant ibex (wild goat), each facing inward. The Latin legend is distributed around the periphery, with the word SVPREMVS to the right and BVLLONIENSIS DVX continuing along the base and left side, all within a toothed inner border.
