| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered Austria-Burgundy arms — displaying the Austrian eagle in the first and fourth quarters and the diagonal barry of Burgundy in the second and third — surmounted by a crowned fleur-de-lis finial. The shield is set upon an ornate floriated cross whose terminals extend to four foliate motifs in the angles of the inner field. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the surrounding Latin legend in Gothic lettering. |

Beneath his feet is a branched or budded cross, the symbol of his martyrdom. The saint is depicted in a hieratic, late-Gothic style typical of Burgundian Low Countries coinage of the period. A Latin legend in Gothic lettering surrounds the figure within a beaded border, with the date 1487 incorporated at the close of the inscription. |
