| Obverse description | A standing armored knight depicted in full relief at center, facing right, wearing a plumed helmet and full suit of armor, holding a bundle of arrows (symbolizing the union of the seven provinces) in his left hand and a sword over his right shoulder. The date is inscribed in two numerals on either side of the knight's feet within the field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, referencing the Duchy of Gelderland and County of Zutphen.
