Reverse description The crowned royal arms of Scotland, displaying the rampant lion passant within a shield, centred within a beaded inner circle. The Roman numeral 'I' appears to the left of the shield and the numeral '5' to the right, together denoting James V. A royal crown surmounts the shield. The circumferential Latin legend is separated by pellets and a cross, running around the outer field. The style is consistent with mid-sixteenth century Scottish hammered gold coinage.
