Reverse description A displayed eagle with wings spread and head turned to the left dominates the reverse field, rendered in the heraldic style typical of Italian Renaissance coinage. Beneath the eagle's right wing is positioned a nonagonal (nine-sided) shield bearing the della Rovere family arms. The surrounding Latin legend, distributed around the periphery of the flan, records Francis Maria's appointment as Captain General of the Holy Roman Church under Pope Julius II. The overall composition is bold and deeply struck, with the heraldic devices occupying the full field of the coin.
