Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Francis I of Lorraine, Holy Roman Emperor, depicted with a long flowing wig rendered in fine baroque detail. The effigy is uncrowned and shows the emperor in contemporary court dress with a lace cravat visible at the truncation. A beaded border frames the periphery of the coin. The circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading FRANC · D : G · R · I · S · A · GER · IER · REX ·, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titles. The portrait is bold and high-relief, characteristic of mid-18th century Habsburg gold coinage.
