| Obverse description | Bust of Duke Charles III of Savoy facing left, depicted in three-quarter profile wearing a ducal bonnet and draped garment with visible collar detail, rendered in the late Gothic style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Savoyard coinage. The portrait is set within a beaded inner circle. The Latin legend surrounding the effigy reads: + KAROLVS . DVX . SABAVD . P : C, identifying the ruler as Charles, Duke of Savoy. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered gold coinage of this period. |
