Obverse description The obverse depicts Saint John the Baptist standing in full figure at center, nimbed and robed in long garments, holding a patriarchal staff or cross in his right hand. To the right, a kneeling figure — identified as Grand Master Anthony Fluvian — is shown in supplication before the saint, rendered in a style closely modeled on the Venetian ducat tradition. The word RODI appears in the left field, identifying the mint of Rhodes. The surrounding circular legend, struck in uncial Latin characters, reads F ANTON FLVVI · S · PRODI DVX, invoking the Grand Master's name and title.
