Obverse description City gateway of Genoa depicted in Gothic style, surmounted by the Sforza dynastic arms featuring the biscione (coiled serpent), flanked on either side by a crowned initial 'A' in the field, referencing the governor Agostino Adorno. The entire design is contained within a reeded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin uncial script identifies the issuing authority and governor.
