Obverse description A rampant lion facing left occupies the central field, brandishing a sword upward in its right forepaw and supporting a Spanish-shaped heraldic shield bearing the arms of Zürich — divided per pale in blue and white — in its left forepaw. The figure is rendered in high relief with bold baroque styling. The encircling legend in Latin runs along the coin's periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded inner border.
