The inscription, reading MON / NOVA / AVR / CAPIT / TREVOL in five lines, identifies this as the new gold coinage of the Chapter of Trévoux. The field outside the tablet is plain, and the overall design is characteristic of late 17th-century ecclesiastical coinage. |
