Obverse description At center, the arms of Schaffhausen — a rampant ram facing left — displayed on an ornate baroque cartouche shield adorned with elaborate scrollwork and foliate mantling. A small winged figure or crest surmounts the shield at the top. The entire armorial composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, separated from the inner circle by a plain ring, reads MO: NO: AVREA·SCAFVSENSIS·1633·, the date 1633 appearing prominently at the top of the legend.
