Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the prevailing Roman imperial portrait style with finely detailed hair and laurel wreath. The legend, written in Greek characters, runs around the periphery of the flan, reading AYT KAIC NЄP TPAIANOC CЄB ΓЄPM, identifying the emperor by his imperial titles. The portrait displays characteristic strong facial features associated with Trajanic coinage. The flan is irregular, as is typical of provincially struck hammered silver issues of this period.
