| Obverse description | Facing right, the head of the hero Herakles rendered in archaic style, clad in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the open jaws and mane of the pelt draped over the crown and framing the face. The flan is compact and slightly irregular, with high relief on the facial features. The treatment of the lion skin is characteristic of Koan coinage of the early Hellenistic period. |
