Obverse description Effigy of Shapur I in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with characteristic Sasanian artistic refinement. The king is adorned with a diadem and surmounted by an elaborate mural crown topped with a distinctive korymbos — a globe enclosing the royal hair. Voluminous, tightly curled locks cascade around the neck and shoulders, while a beaded necklace and finely detailed drapery are visible at the shoulder. A Middle Persian (Pahlavi) legend in beaded border encircles the portrait in the field.
