| Obverse description | Griffin seated right, with prominent outstretched wings rendered in fine feather detail, raising its left forepaw. The creature's leonine hindquarters are depicted in a vigorous, dynamic posture, with a coiled serpent visible in the lower left field. The design is executed in high relief in the characteristic archaic-to-classical Greek style associated with Teos, the griffin serving as the city's principal emblem. |

| Reverse description | A large kantharos (two-handled wine cup) depicted in bold relief at center, with its characteristic high foot, deep bowl, and prominent loop handles clearly articulated. The ethnic abbreviation ΤΗΙ (for Teos) appears in the upper field above the rim of the vessel, while the magistrate's name ΠΟΛΥΞΕΝΟΣ is inscribed across the fields to the left and right of the kantharos stem and foot. The kantharos, sacred to Dionysus, was a secondary civic type on Tean coinage, and the naming of the magistrate reflects the administrative practice of identifying responsible officials on issues of this period. |
