| Obverse description | A cow stands to right in the field, its head turned back to regard a suckling calf positioned below and to the left; the naturalistic grouping is rendered with characteristic Illyrian stylization. Above the bovine group, an eagle perches to right atop a thunderbolt, wings closed, serving as a civic emblem of Dyrrachion. The magistrate's name ΦIΛΩTAΣ appears in the legend surrounding the central devices. The composition is enclosed within an irregular flan typical of hammered coinage of this period and region. |
